5. For programs taught in English
All international applicants for admission to any SJTU program must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission. Being born in an English-speaking country doesn't automatically pass you for English proficiency. You will be deemed to have satisfied the English language requirements if you can provide evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:
i) English Language Tests
ii) Prior study in the medium of English
a) English Language Tests
SJTU recognizes a number of English Language tests and English Preparation Courses which can be undertaken to meet the University's English language requirements. These are set out in the following table, together with the minimum results required. The test/score must be valid till the year of application. For example, the TOEFL must have been undertaken no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at SJTU, i.e., the test must be dated on or after January (two years prior) for Fall Semester intake.
b) Prior study in the medium of English
If you have successfully completed an assessable Senior Secondary qualification or a post-secondary/tertiary study at a recognized university from an English-speaking country you do not have to prove proficiency in English provided the qualification was:
i) Taught and examined in English
ii) Completed no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at SJTU. iii) The statement or certificate must be on official headed paper, and must be the original document. * English-speaking countries recognized by SJTU international graduate programs include: American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Gibraltar, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, The Gambia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Traditionally, working for a PhD degree requires that, one conducts a substantial amount of quality research that is evidenced by publication in reputable journals and conferences. Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the kinds being a researcher in this training position. It has taken the lead in the management system reform in the institutions of higher learning, thus regaining its potency and vivacity as well as momentum for rapid growth as never seen before and also one of the best universities in china. It aims at providing a number of promising future researchers that prospect to develop them academically by earning a doctoral degree. Notwithstanding, funding plays a crucial role in PhD research which requires some level of magnitude when the outcome is needed to contribute to societal challenges.
As Shanghai is one of the best industrious cities in China it will be prudent as a young public administrator to study in this economic zone. It has been my hallmarks to study Shanghai and preferable Shanghai Jiao Tong University for their human relation to international community and its academic excellence. It has always been my motivation looking at my proposed PhD research interest which relates directly to this Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Managerial role lays more emphasize on social, environmental and economic values and among others. As an ambitious young researcher and academician, who is looking forward for a much challenging opportunity to be involved in a PhD research in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, it is in my view that, public management has become a very useful technique in modern research which this noble institution can help me to achieve that. In such systems, Shanghai Jiao Tong University can enable young researchers and practitioners like me to identify the probability that a certain message or keen management is really paramount.
To be a leader, ones’ needs to intrinsically motivate yourself and others to follow you. As I trained myself to be a scholar in the field of business, it have interest me to research on the field of economics, management, public policy and others.
With all this motivation, I have tremendously contributed many academic papers which I have already published two in International Journal of Scientific Research (IJSR) which I’m first and third author of it.
I have also edited papers for my colleagues, conducted research for institutions. With this assistant, the results of my studies have had a positive impact on the various institutions and individual of whom I have assisted. With this, I’m currently the president of National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) in Chengdu city, which I liaise between the student community and Ghana embassy in Beijing, China.
I have worked with a lot of private organizations and public institutions in Ghana. I volunteer in Ghana its 2012 elections and many health programs in Ghana. As a student of University of electronic science and technology of china (UESTC), I have done many voluntary services to the school in academics, community service and many others.
Undoubtedly, I have in the past gained relevant experience; inter disciplinary, solid background in management, and appreciable knowledge in developing solving problems in a field of work or study.
I strongly believe that I can contribute to develop Predictive models to curb the unknown solutions to uncertain problems in a field of study and among others to handle the challenges in businesses for example management, economics, accounting, social sciences ,data analysis, sophisticated software among others.
It is therefore prudent that as a potential candidate I prepare this document as part of my application material for consideration into the programmed.
