China’s emergence as a global leader in medical research and education makes it the ideal environment for my medical training. Among its top-tier institutions, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) stands out for its prestigious academic reputation and its seamless integration of research with clinical practice. Located in Shanghai, SJTU offers a unique immersion into Chinese culture. As a student of Chinese descent, I am eager to learn my language and culture. The integrated curriculum is particularly appealing because it allows me to begin my medical journey immediately while simultaneously developing the Mandarin proficiency necessary to provide competent and compassionate care.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University appeals to me because of its strong reputation, accessible learning environment, focus on community, hands-on approach, and its expectation that students take responsibility for their development. I want to learn in a place I’m expected to show up fully.
In a nutshell, my goal is to become a doctor who treats people with respect, empathy, and full commitment. To me, medicine is both a science and a responsibility. I am choosing it because I know I can carry that responsibility with purpose. Joining the Shanghai Jiao Tong University would be an important step toward that goal, giving me the opportunity to channel my commitment and passion into skill development, teamwork, delivering quality care, and engaging in community services focused on health promotion and disease prevention. Becog a doctor is how I plan to honor my father’s memory and build a path that serves others in the most direct and meaningful way.
I am committed to learning, contributing, and meeting the expectations of the program. I hope my application to the medicine program at Shanghai Jiao Tong University is considered favorably.
